Chandigarh, September 11, 2024: Following Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's controversial remarks on the Sikh community in the US, Journalist Bhalinder Singh Virmani refuted the former claim and stated that Sikhs have no probe in India.
Notably, Journalist Bhalinder Singh Virmani was part of the media team that attended the event at the prestigious Georgetown University in the US where Rahul Gandhi interacted with the students.
"I was sitting at the front row where media sat. Rahul Gandhi asked my name and then made a comment on Sikhs. His statement has disturbed the Sikh community," he informed.
"Not only Sikhs, any other religion has no problem. I'm from India, I'm only here for some time. Being a Sikh, I follow my religion but I have never faced any problem in India. People are aware. If such an incident had even occurred, there would have been a lot of hue and cry about that on social media. Big leaders like Rahul Gandhi should be responsible when they speak about such sensitive matters," said Bhalinder Singh Virmani.
Virmani further clarified that Rahul Gandhi was not taking any questions from the media during the event otherwise he would have asked Rahul Gandhi to clarify his statement.

On Monday in Virginia, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha said that the fight is about whether a Sikh, is going to be allowed to wear a turban in India and would be able to visit a Gurdwara.
"First of all, you have to understand what the fight is about. Fight is not about politics. It is superficial. What is your name? The fight is about whether...he as a Sikh is going to be allowed to wear his turban in India. Or he as a Sikh is going to be allowed to wear a kada in India. Or a Sikh is going to be able to go to Gurdwara. That's what the fight is about and not just for him, for all religions," he said.
Further, he continued his tirade against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, claiming that the "fear of Prime Minister Narendra Modi" among people had vanished after Lok Sabha elections 2024 results were declared.
