Ludhiana, September 18, 2024: The Kisan Mela of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has not only been a big attraction for the farmers of Punjab and neighboring states but also for the Punjabi diaspora.
This year, the mela witnessed large-scale participation of farmers and farm women from Canada, Italy, Pakistan, the US, etc. through the Facebook and YouTube channels of the University.
Dr MS Bhullar, Director of Extension Education, lauded the rising interest and footfall of the farmers for participation in the mela via online and offline modes.
“The growing number of participating farmers in the mela is a testament to their deep-root connection with their roots as well as faith in PAU-developed crop varieties and agri-technologies,” he observed.
Later, Dr Bhullar appreciated the efforts of PAU’s electronic media team to expand its outreach across the world.
Dr TS Riar, Additional Director of Communication, said that PAU social media links are escalating abroad as it highlighted seed sales, experimental areas, live demonstrations, farmers-scientists’ interaction and other stalls at the mela, which benefited Punjabis enormously with one click.
