Ferozepur, November 8, 2024: The Chhath Puja festival, a deeply revered tradition among communities in Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh, was celebrated with great zeal by the Durga Puja Committee in Ferozepur from November 5 to November 8. This year, twenty women gathered to perform the rituals at an open space next to the Guard Driver Running Room near Basti Tanka Wali, honouring the Sun God and Chhath Mata, believed to be his sister, with devotion and elaborate offerings.
Chhath Puja’s four-day festivities begin with ‘Nahai Khay’ and conclude with ‘Usha Arghya’, each day marked by unique rituals and rigorous observances. The celebration concluded on November 8 with ‘Usha Arghya’, a dawn ritual offering prayers to the rising sun.
Key members of the Maa Durga Puja Committee, including Ramakant Singh, M.D. Shrivastava, Vikrant Kumar, and others organized the event, ensuring it was both well-coordinated and reflective of the cultural spirit of Chhath Puja. Through this dedication, the festival brought together the community, offering a space for worship, unity, and tradition in Ferozepur.
