Social Security deptt celebrates International Sign Language Day in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, November 8, 2024: The District Social Security Department of Ferozepur, with the support of the district administration, celebrated International Sign Language Day at the Sri Ram Bagh Bridh Sewa Ashram in Ferozepur Cantonment.
The International Day of Sign Languages highlights the importance of sign languages in promoting inclusion for the Deaf community. This day holds special significance as it reminds us of the need for accessible communication for all. Sign languages are unique and essential for millions of Deaf individuals to express themselves and connect with the world. This celebration helps to improve a more inclusive society where everyone has the right to communicate and be understood.
The event focused on raising awareness and inclusivity for the hearing-impaired community at the district level. Students from Bhagat Puran Singh School in Katora village, who are deaf and hard of hearing, captivated the audience with vibrant cultural performances.
District Social Security Officer Naresh Kumar addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of learning sign language to understand and resolve the challenges faced by those with hearing impairments. He noted that these children aspire to share their joys and sorrows with others in society, which can be facilitated if more people embrace sign language.
The event was attended by prominent figures, including the president of Sri Ram Bagh Bridh Sewa Ashram, Harish Goel, Bhagat Puran Singh School Principal Harvinder Kaur, and other staff members, all showing their support for fostering inclusivity and communication.
