Anti-Narcotics Task Force arrests two brothers, seizes heroin in major Ferozepur bust
Ferozepur, September 12, 2024: In a significant operation, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) in Ferozepur seized 1 kg of heroin, arresting two brothers, Sukhvinder Singh alias Kala and Joginder Singh, both residents of Harike village. The operation, led by Gurpreet Singh, AIG of ANTF, was carried out under the supervision of Punjab's Director General of Police (DGP), following a tip-off about a drug smuggling attempt.
The accused were apprehended at their hideout while attempting to smuggle heroin into the Ferozepur area. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under Section 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the ANTF Police Station in Ferozepur.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the brothers had links with drug smugglers in Pakistan, allegedly using drones to smuggle consignments into India. Authorities are now focused on uncovering the wider network involved in the racket. The accused will be presented in court to obtain a remand for further investigation, with special attention to their smuggling history and connections.
The ANTF has reaffirmed its commitment to combating drug trafficking in the region and urged the public to report any suspicious activities to local law enforcement agencies.
