Traditional Phulkari embroidery workshop held at DSCW

Ferozepur, September 16, 2024: A skill-building workshop on traditional Phulkari embroidery was held at Dev Samaj College for Women hosted by the college's Postgraduate Department of Fashion Designing in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and the 'Earn While You Learn' Cell. The workshop aimed to promote Punjab’s rich cultural heritage while equipping participants with practical skills and entrepreneurial insights.
Participants and students explored the history and significance of Phulkari, engaging in discussions on the craftsmanship and embroidery techniques needed to integrate this traditional art with modern market trends. The session was led by Dr. Khushwinder Kaur Gill, Assistant Professor from the Fashion Designing Department, who emphasized hands-on training for creating traditional Phulkari designs.
Students enthusiastically participated, creating their own Phulkari pieces and gaining valuable insights into market trends and branding strategies. The workshop not only focused on skill development and cultural awareness but also encouraged participants to explore entrepreneurial avenues within traditional craftsmanship.
