Amritsar DC Sakhshi Sawhney urges farmers to avoid stubble burning

Amritsar, September 29, 2024: In a bid to prevent stubble burning Deputy Commissioner Amritsar Sakhsi Sawheny, SSP Charanjit Singh, and agriculture officer Tajider Singh visited the fields and appeal the farmer to avoid stubble burning.
During a village visit DC advised farmers to explore alternative methods, such as plowing fields or creating straw bales for future use.
Deputy Commissioner interacted with farmers, promoting awareness about the harmful effects of stubble burning. She said that The administration seeks cooperation from farmers to maintain a clean environment and ensure public health.
She stated that The government's stance prioritizes farmers' well-being while emphasizing the need for sustainable agricultural practices.By adopting eco-friendly methods, farmers can contribute to a healthier environment and mitigate the risks associated with stubble burning.
District Police Chief S. Charanjit Singh emphasized the government's strict laws regulating this practice. However, he acknowledged the importance of treating farmers with compassion, likening them to "brothers."
Singh advised farmers to explore alternative methods for future use.Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Tajinder Singh and other officials were also reinforcing the administration's commitment to supporting farmers.
