86 bus drivers screened in road safety initiative by Mayank Foundation

Ferozepur, January 14, 2025: In a groundbreaking effort to enhance road safety, Mayank Foundation, in collaboration with a local eye hospital, successfully conducted an eye screening camp for bus drivers at the Ferozepur Bus Stand. This initiative, aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of those responsible for public transport, witnessed enthusiastic participation from the local bus driver community.
A dedicated medical team, Dr Ashwani Kalia, screened 86 bus drivers during the event. The results revealed that 16 drivers required corrective spectacles to improve their vision, directly contributing to safer driving conditions. This initiative underscores the Foundation's commitment to reducing accidents caused by impaired vision and promoting a safety culture on the roads.
Amit Kumar, GM Roadways, and Station Supervisor Nirdosh Kumar were present at the event and encouraged drivers to prioritize their health by undergoing regular eye screenings. They lauded the Mayank Foundation for its proactive approach toward road safety, emphasizing the pivotal role drivers play in ensuring safe public travel.
Rajiv Setia, Secretary of the Mayank Foundation, expressed the organization’s commitment to making eye screening camps for drivers a regular feature. "By addressing vision-related challenges, we aim to significantly enhance road safety and safeguard both drivers and passengers. Similar initiatives will continue in the future to benefit a larger number of drivers," he stated.
