101 protesters to march towards Delhi from Shambhu Morcha on Jan 21
Ferozepur (Shambhu), January 16, 2025: Kisan Majdoor Morcha (India) and Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) have been protesting for over 11 months at Shambhu, Khanauri, and Ratanpura (Rajasthan) borders, demanding the implementation of 12 issues, including the MSP guarantee law for crop procurement and debt relief for farmers and workers. Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s hunger strike has entered its 52nd day. However, the central government remains indifferent to these demands and has ceased discussions with the protesting organizations.
During a press conference at the Shambhu border, senior farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher shared that, similar to the peaceful marches of December 6, 8, and 14, another group of 101 farmers will march towards Delhi on January 21. This group will be led by Manjit Singh Rai (State President, BKU Doaba) and Balwant Singh Behramke (State President, BKU).
He condemned the police and government for their treatment of previous groups and emphasized that the march would remain peaceful. He appealed to the government to either accept the demands and allow farmers to return home or facilitate their peaceful journey to Delhi to voice their concerns.
Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s hunger strike continues for the 52nd day, with 111 farmers now joining him. He reiterated their demands, the same 12 points accepted in writing by the government in 2020.
He also criticized the FIRs filed against protesting farmers following PM Modi's canceled rally in Ferozepur on January 5, 2022, and condemned Punjab's government for filing charges under Section 307, warning of a strong response if further actions are taken against farmers.
Present on this occasion were Surjit Singh Phool, Balwant Singh Behramke, Tejbir Singh Panjokhra, Jang Singh Bhateri, Manjit Singh Fauji, Sukhchain Singh, and Balkar Singh Bains.
