SGPC stages protest outside Cinema hall against film 'Emergency'
Sikh organizations, Sikh Sabhas and religious organizations also raised slogans

Patiala (Punjab), January 17, 2025: On the directions of Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SPGC), a strong protest was held today against the film 'Emergency' which was released in various cinema halls.
In the protest, members of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Jathedar Surjit Singh Garhi, member Jathedar Jasmer Singh Lachhru, member Jathedar Jarnail Singh Kartarpur, along with representatives of Sikh organizations, Sikh Sabhas and religious organizations of the city, joined and opposed the film 'Emergency'.
On the call of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, an appeal was made to various Sikh organizations of the city to oppose Kangana Ranaut's film 'Emergency' on one platform.
Meanwhile, a large number of managers and employees of Gurdwara Sri Dukhniwaran Sahib, Gurdwara Patshahi Nauvin Bahadurgarh, Gurdwara Karhali Sahib participated in a protest outside the PVR cinema house against the film 'Emergency' and raised slogans against the Punjab government.
On this occasion, Jathedar Surjit Singh Garhi and Jathedar Jasmer Singh Lachhru, members of the Atrang Committee, who were involved in the protest, said that the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee will not allow the film 'Emergency' to be shown in cinema halls of Punjab under any circumstances.
Jathedar Garhi said that by becoming a BJP member of parliament from Himachal, Kangana Ranaut wants to disturb the peace and tranquility of Punjab by continuously making such controversial remarks, which the Punjab community will not allow to be disturbed under any circumstances.
He said that the role of the Sikh nation's general Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale is being distorted in the film Emergency, which the Sikh nation and the Sikh community will never tolerate. Jathedar Surjit Singh Garhi said that Kangana Ranaut has the support of the BJP government at the center behind the release of the film Emergency, which wants to run 'Emergency' under such plots so that the atmosphere of Punjab can be disturbed once again.
He said that such designs and conspiracies of the central government can never be tolerated.
On this occasion, Jathedar Jasmer Singh Lachhru thanked the Sikh Sabhas and religious organizations of the city who attended the protest. On this occasion, Gurdwara Management Manager Nishan Singh Jafferwal said that on the orders of SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, the film Emergency has been stopped from being shown in the cinema halls and the SGPC will never allow such films that hurt Sikh sentiments to be shown.
During the protest, besides others, Kathavachak Pritpal Singh, Head Granthi Giani Phula Singh, Additional Manager Jaswinder Singh, Deputy Manager Mandeep Singh Bhalwan, Atam Prakash Singh Bedi, Main. Surjit Singh Kauli Bahadurgarh, Main. Dhanwant Singh Karhali Sahib, Bhai Harwinder Singh, Bhai Jagjit Singh Khalsa, Joginder Singh Panchi, Guru Teg Bahadur Jatha President Prem Singh, Khalsa Shatabdi Committee President Harminderpal Singh Vinti, Simran Grewal, besides officials of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and a large number of employees and devotees were also present.
