Ferozepur Police marks Road Safety Month, TEC conducts 25 seminars on awareness drives, stringent enforcement
Mayank Foundation joins hands for Helmet distribution initiative
Ferozepur, January 17, 2025:To promote road safety awareness and enforce traffic regulations, extensive measures have been undertaken, under the directives of Sh. Gaurav Yadav, DGP Punjab, the Ferozepur District Police, led by Smt. Saumya Mishra, IPS, SSP Ferozepur.
A dedicated team, supervised by Randhir Kumar, IPS, SP (Investigation) Ferozepur, and Arun Mundan, DSP Headquarters, has been actively implementing these initiatives as part of Road Safety Month.
A series of impactful programs and enforcement activities were organized from January 11 to 17, with the active involvement of the public - Helmet Heroes: Encouraging helmet use among two-wheeler riders, Know Your Signs Day: Educating citizens about traffic signs, Don’t Text and Drive Pledge: Promoting safe driving habits, Buckle Up Buddies: Highlighting the importance of seatbelt use, Traffic Lohri: Integrating traffic awareness with the festive spirit, Do Not Drink and Drive Campaign: Advocating responsible behaviour on the roads.
The Traffic Education Cell (TEC) conducted 25 seminars across the district, spreading vital road safety messages to a wide audience. A standout event was held on January 16 at Dass and Brown School, Ferozepur, involving students, school van drivers, and truck drivers. Highlights included - Guidance for school bus drivers on adhering to the Safe School Vahan Policy, A helmet distribution drive, in collaboration with the Mayank Foundation, to promote helmet use among school staff and a free eye checkup camp for truck and van drivers to ensure their fitness for safe driving.
On the enforcement front, the district police intensified their efforts, issuing approximately 9,000 challans over the past three months, with a strong emphasis on e-challans for transparency and efficiency.
SSP Saumya Mishra reiterated the police’s commitment to reducing road accidents and ensuring public safety. “With the combined efforts of awareness campaigns, strict enforcement, and community participation, we aim to create safer roads for all,” she stated.
The Ferozepur District Police continue to work closely with organizations like the Mayank Foundation to make road safety a shared responsibility and achieve lasting change.
