Amritsar, February 5, 2025 – A special US military aircraft carrying deported Indian nationals landed at Amritsar airport around midnight. Contrary to initial expectations, the number of deported individuals was lower than anticipated.
According to official reports, a total of 116 Indians were onboard, including 65 from Punjab, 33 from Haryana, and 8 from Gujarat, while the remaining passengers hailed from other northern states in smaller numbers.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and NRI Affairs Minister Kuldeep Dhaliwal were present at the airport to receive them. Union Minister of State Ravneet Bittu was also among the officials overseeing the return of deportees.
This high-profile deportation has drawn significant attention, raising concerns over immigration policies and the increasing number of Indian nationals facing deportation from the US.
