Meeting between Farmers and Centre remained inconclusive; next meeting in March; farmers to share data
Chandigarh, February 22, 2025:
The much-anticipated meeting between protesting farmers and the Central government concluded without a resolution today, with both sides agreeing to hold the next round of talks on March 19 in Chandigarh. Farmer leaders have also been asked to share detailed data and proposals to support their demands, including a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) and other agricultural reforms.
The meeting, which saw the participation of Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Prahlad Joshi along with farmer leaders like Jagjit Singh Dallewal, Sarwan Singh Pandher and Abhimanyu Kohad, ended in a stalemate. While the government expressed its willingness to engage in further discussions, farmers reiterated that their demands remain non-negotiable.
Farmer leaders have now been tasked with compiling and presenting data to strengthen their case ahead of the March meeting. "We will share all necessary information and evidence to justify our demands," said the farmers' leaders.
