DC, SSP lead strategy meet over Decisive War Against Drugs in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, March 1, 2025: To eradicate drug menace from Ferozepur district, Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma and SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu vowed to transform the anti-drug campaign into a people's movement through strict measures and public participation.
Presiding over a high-level meeting at the District Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner announced a "Decisive War Against Drugs", assuring exemplary action against drug traffickers. She instructed that properties of those involved in drug trafficking would be seized and illegal properties demolished. Firearms licenses of drug peddlers would be cancelled within 48 hours of identification.
DC Sharma directed SDMs and DSPs to monitor OOAT, de-addiction, and rehabilitation centers, ensuring proper food, counseling, medicines, and security facilities. She emphasized engaging youth through cycling rallies, seminars, marathons, and sports events in every sub-division to create awareness against drugs.
The Civil Surgeon was instructed to conduct daily inspections at rehabilitation centers, while drug inspectors were tasked with regular checks at chemist shops. The Education Department was directed to prepare awareness programs in schools and colleges, identify dropouts, and motivate them to return to education.
SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu assured full support of Punjab Police in breaking the drug supply chain and putting traffickers behind bars. He announced cordon and search operations (CASO) in affected areas every fortnight and weekly raids in jails to curb drug smuggling.
Both officials appealed to the public to actively participate in the anti-drug campaign, making Ferozepur a drug-free district within the next three months.
