CGC Landran’s 19th Annual Sports meet concludes; View Pics

Chandigarh, March 13, 2025: The 19th Annual Sports Meet of Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran was a brilliant showcase of skill, team spirit and determination. Anish Thakur and Rimpi Kaur were adjudged Best Athletes at the sports meet.
Featuring Kabaddi, Shot Put, Discus Throw, Javelin Throw, Handball, Football, Basketball, track and field events including 800 meters, 1500 meters and 3000 meters races; 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters races, Long Jump, High Jump, Triple Jump, and Relay Races, the event saw enthusiastic participation by CGCians.

Graced by the presence of acclaimed sports personalities including Sift Kaur Samra, world record holder in women’s 50 metre rifle and Asian Games 2022 gold medallist, Ramakant Sharma, Mr. World at the Musclemania World Championship and Commonwealth Games player in weightlifting Meena K. Pawarr, the sports meet successfully conveyed the message of overcoming challenges, staying focused and promoting both physical and mental wellbeing.
The dignitaries were welcomed by Dr. P.N. Hrisheekesha, Campus Director, CGC Landran, Capt. (Retd.)Vinod Jaswal, HoD, Sports, Dr. Gagandeep Kaur Bhullar, Dean, Student Welfare, CGC Landran, faculty and students of CGC Landran.
The event also witnessed CGC’s national level and inter university level medal winners of different sports competitions being felicitated with certificates of appreciation and cash prizes.
Winners of all the track and field events including races, Javelin Throw, Discus Throw, Shot Put, in addition to Football, Volleyball, Basketball and Kabaddi were also felicitated with trophies.
In the 100 meters races Kirat and Vanshika won the gold medal; In the 200 meters race Virat and Pooja took home the gold; Vivek and Vanshika captured the gold in the 400 meters race; Vikash and Pooja bagged the first position in the 800 meters race, while Arun Kumar and Gunjan claimed the gold medal in 1500 meters race; Arijit’s stupendous performance in the 3,000 meters race earned him the gold medal.

In the Long Jump category, Ansh and Janvi took home the gold medal while Rimpi and Ansh claimed the first position in High Jump. Vansh Pratap and Saloni captured the gold medal in Shot Put; Dhruv Singh excelled in Discus throw, taking home the gold medal. Mukul and Sonam were the first prize winners in Javelin Throw. In the 4x100 meters relay race for girls, the team comprising Sneha, Vanshika, Tanu and Harpreet bagged the gold medal.
The Kabaddi gold for boys was claimed by Chandigarh College of Engineering, CGC Landran while the gold for girls was bagged by Chandigarh Business School of Administration, CGC Landran.
The Gold Medal in Handball for boys, was won by Chandigarh Engineering College, CGC Landran while the girls’ team from Chandigarh College of Engineering captured the gold medal.
