Punjab Police cracks Bhavkirat Singh Kidnapping Case in Record Time

Patiala (Punjab), March 13, 2025: In a swift and decisive operation, Punjab Police successfully rescued 7-year-old Bhavkirat Singh within 24 hours of his abduction from Shihan Dawood village near Khanna.
The high-stakes operation, personally supervised by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and DGP Gaurav Yadav, ended in a dramatic police encounter near Mandour Khera, where one of the kidnappers was shot dead while two others were arrested. Two police personnel were injured in the exchange of fire.

Addressing a press conference at Patiala Police Lines, DIG Patiala Range Mandeep Singh Sidhu praised the police team's efficiency, stating, "There is no place for kidnappers and anti-social elements in Punjab. This operation sends a strong message—Punjab Police will not tolerate crime."
He also announced a ₹10 lakh cash reward and promotions for the officers involved.
High-Stakes Operation: How Punjab Police Tracked the Kidnappers
Bhavkirat Singh was abducted on the evening of March 12 while playing outside his home. His kidnappers, riding a motorcycle, later demanded ₹1 crore in ransom. Acting on orders from DGP Gaurav Yadav, police teams from Khanna, Malerkotla, and Patiala launched an extensive search, utilizing advanced surveillance techniques.
By the afternoon of March 13, police received intelligence that the kidnappers were in a Fortuner near Mandour on Nabha Road. A high-speed chase ensued, during which the criminals opened fire on the police.
In retaliatory firing, kidnapper Jaspreet Singh, son of Sukhwinder Singh from Shihan Dawood, was killed, while his two accomplices, Harpreet Singh and Ravi Bhinder, were arrested. The police also recovered a .32 bore pistol and a motorcycle used in the crime.
Sleepless Night for Punjab Cops, Operation Led with Precision
DIG Sidhu commended the tireless efforts of SSP Khanna Dr. Jyoti Yadav, SSP Patiala Dr. Nanak Singh, and SSP Malerkotla Gagan Ajit Singh, who worked through the night without rest to ensure Bhavkirat’s safe return.
He specifically praised CIA Patiala Incharge Inspector Shaminder Singh, Special Branch Incharge Inspector Binny Dhillon, and Inspector Harry Boparai for their contributions.Constable Rupinder Singh and Home Guards personnel Shivji Giri and Baljinder Singh sustained injuries in the operation but are reported to be stable.
