Speaker Sandhwan launches school development projects in Kotkapura under Punjab Sikhya Kranti
Kotkapura, April 7, 2025: Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha Kultar Singh Sandhwan today inaugurated development projects worth lakhs of rupees in various schools in his constituency at Kotkapura under the "Punjab Education Revolution" program. In this regard, development projects were also inaugurated in various schools across the state under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister of Punjab S. Bhagwant Singh Mann.

Punjab Government to spend a large part of the budget on education to improve the quality of Education
On this occasion, Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Arvind Kejriwal have the view that to make the all-around development of the country, we need to make a better future for the children. To achieve this dream, the infrastructure of schools has been immensely improved to shape the future of children. He said that it is a matter of great pride that 189 children from Government schools have passed the JEE test and now they are getting training at IIT Ahmedabad. The Punjab Government has constructed boundary walls for 98 percent of schools and 1177 watchmen have been recruited for the security of schools. Besides this, 1809 campus managers have been recruited, 9200 new rooms have been constructed, and 4700 classrooms have also been renovated.
Sandhwan said that it is the effect of the improved infrastructure of government schools in Punjab that 9000 children from private schools have come to study in Government schools. He added that children from Government schools in Punjab have also visited ISRO to see Chandrayaan, which is a matter of great pride. He said that the board result of government schools is 92 percent at present, which will soon be increased to 100 percent. He said that teachers have been sent to Singapore and Finland for training, which includes 234 principals, 144 primary teachers, and 150 principals and teachers. Punjab Government has converted the services of 12316 temporary teachers to a permanent basis and recruited 10487 new teachers. Moreover, he added that 1239 non-teaching staff have also been recruited in schools, and a major part of the state budget would be spent on the education sector.
Giving more information about the schools of Kotkapura, he inaugurated various development projects which was built at a cost of about Rs 60 lakhs at Dr. Hari Singh Sewak School of Eminence in which boundary wall has been constructed for Rs 26 lakh 40 thousand, rooms were construction for Rs 7.50 lakh, new laboratory was made for Rs 1.10 lakh, new bathrooms were built for Rs 4.72 lakh, bathrooms were got renovated for Rs 70 thousand. A new library has also been constructed at a cost of Rs 9.65 lakh.
Similarly, he inaugurated new rooms built for Rs 7.51 lakh and a ramp built for Rs 30 thousand at the Government Primary School Hira Singh Nagar. He also inaugurated a boundary wall built for Rs 2.10 lakh at Government Primary School Kotkapura (Boys) and a bathroom built for girls for Rs 2.63 lakh at Government Primary School Prem Nagar Kotkapura and other development projects. He said that work has also been done at the BPEO office in Kotkapura for Rs. 3 lakh.
On this occasion, teachers and students were specially honored who have achieved laurels in various fields. Speaker Sandhwan also announced to provide expenses for the students and the school from his discretionary quota.
Folk singers Harinder Sandhu and Rana Kameana mesmerize the audience with cultural and family songs on this occasion. A cultural program was presented by the school students. The Speaker gave prize money worth Rs. 11,000 each to the children who presented the cultural program. Mr. Jasbir Jassi, District Guidance Councilor played the role of stage secretary in this event.
On this occasion, Pradeep Deora Deputy District Education Officer Secondary, Pawan Kumar Deputy District Education Officer Elementary, Chairman Market Committee Gurmeet Singh Arewala, Aman Sandhu, Principal Panna Lal, Principal Prabhjot Singh State Awardee, Parminder Singh Headmaster, Mandeep Singh Mintu Gill Aam Aadmi Party, Hardeep Singh Happy, besides Block President, Panch, Sarpanch and a large number of students were present.
