Kullu (Himachal Pradesh), April 7, 2025: India’s most ambitious and strategically vital railway project — the Leh Railway Line — is rapidly advancing, with track alignment survey work now underway in Kullu district.
As part of this major infrastructure initiative, satellite-based surveys, and tower installations have begun to map out the possible route of the railway.
According to preliminary details, the railway line will originate from Nagwain in Mandi district, proceeding through a flyover into Kullu via Hurla, and continuing onward through Ruadu, Kahudhar, and Jiya.
Sources indicate that a long tunnel is proposed from Jiya to Talogi, after which the track will extend toward Angudobi via Banauntar, with railway stations planned at Angudobi and Devdhar.
The next segment of the route will pass through Neuli to Seubagh, then cross the Beas River near Raison, before reaching the tourist town of Manali via Katrani.
“The process of marking the entire route is progressing rapidly,” officials said, highlighting the use of satellite mapping and on-ground towers to ensure precise alignment in the mountainous terrain.
This railway line, once completed, will not only boost connectivity to Leh but also play a crucial role in strategic defense logistics and tourism development in the Himalayan region.
