The march, which began at Shaheed Udham Singh Chowk and concluded at Baba Nam Dev Chowk, saw participation in the hundreds as the community came together to mourn the victims and demand justice.
Holding placards that read “Dharam De Na Te Katal Bandh Kro” and “Justice for Pahalgam Victims,” the participants walked in silence, expressing their sorrow over the tragic incident that claimed the lives of innocent tourists.
Rinku Grover, President of the Municipal Council, and Ashok Behal, Secretary of the Red Cross, Harish Goyal, Parveen Talwar, Suresh Narang joined the march along with members of several NGOs, including the Senior Citizens Forum and Streamline Welfare Society. “This incident has shaken us to the core,” they said. “The idea that a family vacation could end in such a tragedy is heartbreaking. We stand in solidarity with the victims and their families.”
An elderly participant shared his anguish, stating, “The people of Kashmir are not just facing a loss of business or jobs—this is about the loss of human lives. These were tourists, people seeking joy and peace. Who would have thought they wouldn’t return home? No compensation can ever fill the void left in their families' hearts.”
The candlelight march served as both a tribute to the lives lost and a powerful call for peace, safety, and justice.
