Pakistani Rangers detain BSF Jawan who accidentally crossed border in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, April 24, 2024: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan is reported to have been detained by Pakistani Rangers on Wednesday, April 23, after he mistakenly crossed the international border in Punjab’s Ferozepur while on duty.

As per the information reported on X - drawing attention to the delicate nature of operations along the international border - Constable P.K. Singh of the 182nd Battalion, who was in uniform and carrying a service rifle, was providing security to Indian farmers working near the zero line—a sensitive area where both nations' borders nearly converge and special permission is granted for agricultural activities. The jawan, who was recently transferred and unfamiliar with the area, inadvertently moved beyond the border while seeking shade under a tree due to the intense heat.
At the time, he was part of a team guarding farmers operating a harvesting machine close to the boundary. The Pakistani Rangers surrounded him, confiscated his rifle, and took him into custody.
In response, a flag meeting reported to have been called between the two border forces to ensure the jawan’s safe return. Sources confirmed that dialogue is underway between both sides' military officials to secure his release.
