Charanjit Channi among 17 MPs selected for 'Sansad Ratna Award 2025'

Chandigarh, May 18, 2025: Former Punjab Chief Minister and current MP Charanjit Singh Channi are among the 17 Members of Parliament who will be honored with the prestigious Sansad Ratna Award 2025.
The award recognizes outstanding contributions to parliamentary work, including participation in debates, raising questions, and involvement in legislative activities.
The Sansad Ratna Awards, instituted by Prime Point Foundation, are based on data-driven assessments of parliamentary performance.The winners were selected by a jury committee chaired by Hansraj Ahir, Chairman of the National Commission for Backward Classes. He emphasized that the award celebrates MPs who have played a significant role in strengthening India’s democratic processes.
Special Recognition for Four MPs
Four MPs will receive special honours for their consistent and exceptional performance in both the 16th and 17th Lok Sabha. These include:
- Bhartruhari Mahtab (BJP)
- Supriya Sule (NCP-SPA)
- N.K. Premachandran (RSP)
- Shrirang Appa Barne (Shiv Sena)
Other MPs Awarded for Parliamentary Excellence
Thirteen additional MPs have been selected for their notable participation in Parliament. These MPs represent various political parties and have contributed through debates, questions, and legislative suggestions:

- Arvind Sawant (Shiv Sena - Uddhav faction)
- Naresh Ganpat Mhaske (Shiv Sena)
- Varsha Gaikwad (Congress)

Two Parliamentary Committees Also Honoured
In a rare move, two Parliamentary Standing Committees will also be felicitated:
- Standing Committee on Finance
- Chairperson: Bhartruhari Mahtab
- Recognized for producing impactful and insightful reports on financial policies.
- Standing Committee on Agriculture
- Chairperson: Charanjit Singh Channi (Congress)
- Commended for highlighting farmer issues and proposing substantive agricultural reforms.
