Awareness Seminar on Child Marriage and Legal Rights Held at Ferozepur School
Ferozepur, May 20, 2025: An awareness seminar on child marriage was organized under the guidance of Anuradha, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ferozepur, at HM Senior Secondary School, Ferozepur. The event was held following the directions of Sumit Malhotra, District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, DLSA.
During the seminar, Satwant Singh, CDPO, Ferozepur, addressed the students about the issues of child marriage and child labour. He emphasized that marrying girls at an early age leads to both physical and mental health problems.
Anuradha informed the students that Legal Literacy Clubs have been established in various government high and senior secondary schools across Ferozepur district. These clubs conduct activities such as poster making, speech competitions, calligraphy contests, painting, and more, alongside regular studies, to promote legal awareness and holistic personality development among students.
She further highlighted that the District Legal Services Authority provides free legal aid and organizes Lok Adalats from time to time. She also informed the students about the upcoming Lok Adalat scheduled for May 24, 2025.
She also shared that the National Legal Services Authority offers detailed information on free legal services, victim compensation, permanent Lok Adalats, and mediation centers. The DLSA office also promoted the toll-free helpline 15100 and landline number 01632-235034, encouraging awareness of women's rights and available legal support.
