MP Malvinder Singh Kang reviews development projects, ensure timely completion in Nawanshahr

Nawanshahr (Punjab), May 20, 2025: Member of Parliament from Sri Anandpur Sahib, Malvinder Singh Kang, chaired a District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting on Tuesday at the District Administrative Complex to review the progress of various welfare schemes and development projects underway in Nawanshahr.
Accompanied by MLAs Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhi and Dr. Nachattar Pal, and Deputy Commissioner Ankurjeet Singh, MP Kang assessed nearly 35 ongoing Central and State government schemes.
He directed officials to avoid delays and ensure the benefits of welfare programs reach every eligible citizen.
The MP emphasized proper utilization of MPLADS funds, noting that out of the sanctioned ₹158.47 lakh, ₹54.45 lakh has been utilized, with the rest in progress. He also reviewed health initiatives such as Janani Suraksha Yojana, PM National Dialysis Programme, and installation of tube wells under the rural drinking water scheme.
Significant progress was reported under the Swachh Bharat Mission, PM Gram Sadak Yojana (over 80% completion), and PM Awas Yojana, under which funds have been transferred to 508 out of 637 identified beneficiaries.
MP Kang also reviewed the National Food Security Act implementation, Smart Ration Card scheme, MGNREGA, and schemes like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, and PM Adarsh Gram Yojana.He urged officials to spread awareness and ensure timely project completion.
Prominent attendees included senior civil and police officials, Punjab State Industrial Training Board Deputy Chairman Lalit Mohan Pathak, Improvement Trust Chairman Satnam Singh Jalwaha, and District Planning Committee Chairman Satnam Singh Jalalpur.
