Ferozepur Police seize 2.07 Kg heroin, ₹25.12 lakh cash in third major drug bust
Ferozepur, May 21, 2025: In a major success under the ongoing "Yudh Nashian Virudh" (War Against Drugs) campaign, Ferozepur police have made yet another significant recovery of heroin and drug money, marking the third such seizure in just a week.
On May 21, a total of 2.070 kg of heroin and ₹25.12 lakh in drug money were recovered, taking the week's total haul to over 10 kg of heroin and nearly ₹27 lakh. Previous recoveries include 1.887 kg on May 15, 4.225 kg on May 19, and 2.020 kg along with ₹1.97 lakh on May 20.
SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, while addressing the media, credited the success to the dedicated efforts of SPs, DSPs, and the SHO of Kulgarhi police station. He said that acting on a specific tip-off, a police naka was set up, leading to the arrest of three drug smugglers from village Bukhan Khan Wala under the jurisdiction of Kulgarhi police station.
The accused have been identified as Karan Kumar alias Ghani (22), Rohit Bhatt (24), and Akashdeep alias Akash (24). Police confirmed that Karan Kumar and Akashdeep have criminal backgrounds. Karan Kumar is already facing two cases—one under the NDPS Act for the recovery of 71.44 grams of heroin on January 12, 2025, and another under BNS 25 and the Arms Act dated December 12, 2025. Akashdeep also has one NDPS case registered against him for possession of 50 grams of heroin.
SSP Sidhu further revealed that the accused were operating through 'hawala' channels. The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests and recoveries are expected as further leads are being pursued.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to eradicating drug smuggling and continue to urge the public to support efforts by sharing credible information.
