Thakur, Chairman Punjab Traders Commission, addresses business concerns in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, May 22, 2025: Anil Thakur, Chairman of the Punjab State Traders Commission (Excise and Taxation Department), today met with traders, businessmen, builders, and industrialists in Ferozepur to discuss and resolve their issues. The meeting, held under the "Aap Di Sarkar Aap De Duar" (Your Government at Your Doorstep) initiative led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, aimed to provide a conducive environment for businesses in Punjab.
During the meeting at the District Administrative Complex, Chairman Thakur presided over discussions concerning GST, district-level, mobile wing, and excise matters. He emphasised the need for a harmonious relationship between the department and the business community to increase tax revenue.
Addressing the various business and industrial representatives, Chairman Thakur assured them that all legitimate difficulties and demands would be addressed. He directed officials from the GST and Excise wings to take appropriate steps to rectify existing shortcomings in tax collection. He also urged traders and industrialists to honestly and timely deposit their due taxes to contribute to the state's progress and prosperity.
Thakur highlighted the role of the Punjab State Traders Commission as a bridge between the Punjab government, traders, and industrialists. He stated that he is visiting every district to listen to the problems faced by businesses, resolving many on the spot, and escalating others to the government for resolution.
He encouraged attendees to submit any suggestions or demands in writing, assuring them that the government and the commission would seriously consider all input to find suitable solutions for their legitimate concerns.
The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner Sales Tax Kulwinder Verma, Pawan S.I.P.U. Fazilka, Sales Tax Officers Prabhjot Singh and Vishal Sharma, Sales Inspectors Sanjeev, Nirmaljeet Singh, Harjeet Singh, and office bearers from various trade associations and industrial associations.
