Amritsar (Punjab), May 24, 2025: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has expressed deep concern over reports of religious conversions of Sikh families in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh.
He strongly condemned any attempt to convert individuals through coercion or inducement, stating that such acts are completely unacceptable.
Dhami said that according to information received, families residing in villages along the India-Nepal border were allegedly misled under false promises related to medical treatment, financial benefits, and other lures.Although several families have denied undergoing religious conversion, the SGPC is taking the matter seriously.
A team of Sikh preachers, led by the head of SGPC’s Sikh Mission in Uttar Pradesh, will be dispatched to investigate the issue thoroughly and submit a detailed report to the SGPC. He urged the government to take strict action against those involved in coercive or deceitful religious conversions.
