Heatwave Alert in Punjab from June 9, temperatures set to break records

Chandigarh, June 8, 2025: Punjab is bracing for an intense heatwave, with temperatures expected to soar and possibly break previous records. A heatwave alert has been issued across the state starting June 9.
Bathinda recorded the highest temperature at 42.6°C, followed by Amritsar at 41.1°C, Ludhiana at 40.0°C, and Chandigarh at 39.9°C.
According to the Meteorological Department, hot and dry winds are likely to sweep through the southern and southwestern districts of Punjab from June 9 to June 11.
Residents in Fazilka, Muktsar, Faridkot, Moga, Bathinda, Mansa, Sangrur, Patiala, and Fatehgarh Sahib are advised to take extra precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.
