Ubhawal (Sangrur), June 8, 2025:Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar on Sunday paid his heartfelt tributes to senior Akali leader and former Union Minister S. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, describing him as a towering statesman who dedicated his life to the service of Punjab, the Panth, and the nation.
Speaking during the bhog and antim ardaas ceremony at Dhindsa’s native village Ubhawal, Jakhar emphasized the urgent need for unity among all Panthic forces.
“A strong Panthic party is not just a necessity for the Panth, the community, and Punjab—it is also essential for the strength and stability of the entire nation,” he said.
Jakhar made a fervent appeal to all Akali factions to set aside personal egos and mutual differences in the larger interest of the Panth and Punjab. “This would be the most fitting and true tribute to the legacy of Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa Ji, who always stood for collective interests and higher ideals,” he added.
Warning against the risk of disunity, Jakhar said that if internal rifts continue, Punjab’s great cultural and political heritage could be inherited by others, ultimately harming the Panth, the community, and the state. “The time has come to unite and safeguard what Dhindsa Sahib stood for,” he said.
Jakhar also acknowledged Dhindsa’s lifelong contributions, from grassroots leadership to holding key positions at the national level, and said his passing marks an irreparable loss to Punjab and the nation.
