IAS officer caught taking Rs 10 lakh bribe, Rs 47 lakh cash recovered in raid

New Delhi, June 9, 2025: In a major crackdown, the Odisha Vigilance Department on Monday arrested an IAS officer posted as the Sub-Collector of Dharamgarh in Kalahandi district for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹10 lakh from a businessman.
According to an official release, the officer was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe at his official residence.

The businessman had reportedly been called there by the officer, who took the money and kept it in his desk drawer.Following the arrest, a raid was conducted at the officer’s residence, leading to the recovery of ₹47 lakh in unaccounted cash.
A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
