Chandigarh, June 10, 2025: The Punjab government has officially removed HDFC Bank from its list of empanelled banks, citing non-cooperation and failure to execute time-sensitive financial transactions as directed by the state.
In a directive issued by the Secretary Expenditure-cum-Director of Institutional Finance and Banking, Punjab, all departments and administrative bodies — including financial commissioners, principal secretaries, divisional commissioners, and deputy commissioners — have been instructed to cease any financial dealings with HDFC Bank.
The order highlighted that the bank did not cooperate with state authorities in implementing specific instructions that required timely execution.
“In view of HDFC Bank’s failure to comply with government orders concerning critical, time-bound transactions, continuing to engage the bank for official business is not advisable,” the communication stated.
