Chandigarh, June 11, 2025:The family of Colonel Pushpinder Bath met Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria once again today, urging swift action against the accused police personnel in the assault case.
Submitting a formal memorandum, Colonel Bath's wife Jaswinder Kaur alleged that some senior police officers in Punjab were shielding the accused, thereby hampering justice.
Colonel Bath's wife, Jaswinder Kaur, said the family acknowledges the ongoing investigation by the Chandigarh Police, under the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the High Court.
She informed that the Governor has assured them that they may approach him again if they feel the investigation is lacking at any point.
The Governor has also scheduled a meeting between the family and the Inspector General of Chandigarh Police this evening to apprise them of the SIT’s latest findings.
Raising serious allegations, Jaswinder Kaur stated that four police inspectors involved in the case are absconding and that the process to declare them as Proclaimed Offenders (PO) must be initiated.
She claimed that each time Chandigarh Police attempts to arrest them, Punjab Police allegedly tips them off, enabling them to flee. The family has also demanded Lookout Circulars be issued against the absconding officers, fearing they may flee abroad.
She added that among those accused is also a constable named Jai Singh and he too should be included in the investigation for his alleged role in delaying the FIR to facilitate a compromise.
Jaswinder Kaur questioned the double standards in police action, saying that when the Punjab CM orders arrest in political matters, accused are arrested within 24 hours, but in this case, the accused inspectors remain at large even after 90 days.
She added that despite being absconders, they continue to draw salaries and that the court has already rejected their anticipatory bail pleas. A fresh departmental inquiry into their conduct has also been initiated, she said.
The family continues to seek justice and has urged both Chandigarh and Punjab authorities to expedite the probe and ensure that the accused are brought to book.
