Babushahi Bureau
Rupnagar (Punjab), July 1, 2025: In a step towards improving infrastructure and road safety, the Public Works Department (PWD), Rupnagar Division has submitted its approval for the General Arrangement Drawing (GAD) of a Road Over Bridge (ROB) that will be constructed between Doraha and Sahnewal stations in the Ambala–Ludhiana section of Northern Railway.
The approval was communicated through a letter (Memo No. 5705) dated June 29, 2025, addressed to the Deputy Chief Engineer, Road Safety Project, Northern Railway Headquarters, New Delhi.
The communication highlights that the GAD has been signed with the condition that the Department of Railways must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Public Works Department, Government of Punjab, prior to the execution of any work.
The move is expected to significantly enhance traffic flow and safety in the region by replacing the level crossing with a more efficient and safer ROB.
The project is part of broader efforts to eliminate level crossings across the railway network, especially in high-traffic zones, under the Road Safety and Infrastructure Modernization Program.
The Executive Engineer, PWD B&R, Rupnagar, who issued the letter, also enclosed the signed GAD drawing for necessary action and implementation planning.Further developments on the commencement of construction are awaited.
