Drone dropped arms seized near Indo-Pak border: AK-47, 37 live cartridges recovered
Ferozepur, July 3, 2025: A major consignment of arms smuggled across the Indo-Pak border through drones was recovered near the village of Ghoda Chak under the jurisdiction of the Mamdot Police Station.
According to the police, during a routine patrol, an informer tipped off Inspector Gurwinder Kumar about a large cache of arms that had allegedly been arranged by an unidentified person and dropped via drone near the border area. Acting on the information, a search operation was carried out in the area, resulting in the recovery of one AK-47 assault rifle along with 37 live cartridges.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Arms Act and the Aircraft Act against unidentified persons.
Investigating Officer Gurwinder Singh said further investigations are underway to identify those involved in the smuggling.
Notably, in the past as well, several cases of drugs and weapons being dropped via drones along the border have been reported, with many such recoveries made during joint operations by the alert Border Security Force (BSF) and the local police.
