Tree plantation drive held in Gurdaspur under 'Mission One Judge One Tree' initiative

Gurdaspur (Punjab), July 5, 2025 – In a commendable effort to promote environmental sustainability, a Tree Plantation Drive was organized today at the new residential area for Judicial Officers in Gurdaspur under the banner of “Mission One Judge One Tree.”
This initiative was held under the direction of the Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar, and the able guidance of Shri Dilbagh Singh Johal, Learned District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Gurdaspur.
The drive was spearheaded by Sh. Harpreet Singh, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Gurdaspur, witnessed active participation from all Judicial Officers posted at the District Headquarters. Each officer planted a tree, symbolizing their commitment to protecting the environment.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Dilbagh Singh Johal emphasized that the initiative is being implemented across Punjab with the objective of creating a cleaner and greener environment.
He urged everyone to contribute towards a sustainable future by making dedicated efforts to preserve nature.
On this occasion, all present took a solemn pledge:
“As custodians of law and protectors of justice, we pledge to uphold not only the rights of people, but also the rights of nature and future generations. Today, by planting this tree, we root our commitment in the soil—to nurture justice that is green, fair, and enduring. Let this tree grow as a living symbol of our shared duty, our unity, and our promise to the Earth.”
Johal also informed that under this campaign, saplings are being planted across various villages and schools in the Gurdaspur district.Additionally, awareness programs and seminars are being organized to educate people about the importance of environmental conservation.
