IFFCO distributes saplings to promote environmental conservation
Ferozepur, July 5, 2025: The world’s largest cooperative organization, IFFCO, celebrated International Cooperative Day and the Foundation Day of the Union Government's Ministry of Cooperation at the Government Primary School in village Ferozeshah, Ferozepur district. The event saw participation from employees of cooperative societies and around 70 farmers. IFFCO’s State Marketing Manager, Harmel Singh Sidhu, attended the program as the chief guest.
Giving details, Sandeep Kumar, Assistant Manager, IFFCO Ferozepur, informed that 1,000 neem saplings were distributed among farmers and school students during the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Harmel Singh Sidhu highlighted the environmental benefits of IFFCO’s Nano Fertilizers—Nano Urea Plus and Nano DAP. He said that these fertilizers not only improve crop quality and yield but also serve as excellent alternatives to traditional fertilizers. He emphasized that the use of nano fertilizers helps reduce the harmful environmental effects caused by excessive use of chemical fertilizers.
He explained that soaking one kilogram of seeds with just 5 ml of Nano DAP before sowing and spraying 500 ml of Nano DAP mixed with 125 liters of water after 35 days can reduce the usage of traditional DAP fertilizer by 50% per acre. Similarly, using 500 ml of Nano Urea Plus with 125 liters of water per acre after 40 days of sowing can replace the nitrogen content equivalent to one bag of traditional urea fertilizer. He added that these fertilizers are cost-effective in terms of transportation and storage.
Deputy Director of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Ferozepur, Gurmel Singh Sandhu, provided detailed information to farmers about multi-dimensional training programs offered at KVK. He also appreciated IFFCO’s efforts towards environmental protection and urged farmers to participate in village-level camps to learn more about the benefits of nano fertilizers.
Headmaster of Primary School Ferozeshah and National Awardee, Rajinder Singh Raja, thanked IFFCO for encouraging students towards environmental conservation. He also shared his successful experience of using IFFCO’s demonstration plots during the previous paddy season as a farmer. Later, he accompanied the IFFCO State Manager on a tour of the school, showcasing the new teaching techniques being introduced to students.
In conclusion, Sandeep Kumar expressed gratitude to all officials, society employees, and participants for their support in making the event successful.
