Phagwara (Punjab), July 12, 2025: In a significant political development in Punjab, Kulwant Rai Pabby, a prominent Congress leader and President of the Phagwara Arhatiya Association, has officially joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The move has sparked enthusiasm among AAP’s local leadership and workers, marking a fresh shift in the region’s political landscape.
Pabby, who enjoys considerable influence in commission agent circles and among farmers, cited the pro-farmer and pro-Arhatiya policies of the AAP government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann as the primary reason for his decision.
He praised the historic and ground-level reforms initiated by the Mann-led government, which, according to him, restored the confidence of agricultural stakeholders in governance.
Several senior AAP leaders were present to welcome Pabby into the party fold. The event was attended by Raj Kumar Chabbewal (MP), Harjit Singh Mann, Ram Pal Uppal (Mayor, Phagwara), and Jaspal Singh, all of whom expressed confidence that Pabby’s induction will lend strong regional backing to AAP, particularly in the agriculture and mandi (market) sectors.
AAP leaders believe Pabby’s switch will consolidate the party’s grip in farm purchase centres and rural areas of Phagwara. His influence among commission agents and grassroots workers is expected to further energize the party’s outreach in the district.
Welcoming the move, MP Raj Kumar Chabbewal said, “Pabby ji’s presence is an honour for us. This will give more public strength to our farmer-centric policies.” Meanwhile, Harjit Singh Mann added, “His joining will expand and strengthen the social and rural base of the Aam Aadmi Party.”
