AAP protests against Centre for allegedly sheltering gangsters in jails, assures traders’ safety
Abohar (Fazilka) July 13, 2025: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday staged a protest in Abohar against the BJP-led Central Government, alleging that gangsters lodged in jails are being given protection and allowed to operate freely. Fazilka MLA Narinderpal Singh Sawna led the protest along with former MLA Arun Narang, District President Upkar Singh Jakhar, District Planning Board Chairman Sunil Sachdeva, Atul Nagpal, and Market Committee Fazilka Chairman Paramjit Singh Noor Shah.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Narinderpal Singh Sawna alleged that under the BJP government, notorious criminals have been given free rein even while in jail, allowing them to orchestrate crimes openly in states like Punjab. He said this reflects the double standards of the BJP government at the Centre.
Referring to the recent murder of Abohar trader Sanjay Verma, Sawna expressed grief and said such incidents could have been prevented if the Central Government had taken strict action against gangsters. He alleged that major gangsters are running organised crime syndicates from BJP-ruled state jails with no action being taken to curb their activities, and instead, they are being provided protection to continue their illegal activities from behind bars.
Sawna further stated that the people of Punjab have seen through the BJP’s hollow tactics, and voices against such actions are rising across the state. He assured that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government will not allow these conspiracies to succeed. He emphasised that the Punjab Government is standing firmly with the trader community and will ensure the safety and security of every citizen.
He also accused the BJP of playing politics on every issue without delivering anything meaningful to the people.
