Mandi (Himachal Pradesh), July 13, 2025: A major tragedy was narrowly averted today in Mandi district when former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, who was visiting flood and landslide-affected areas, had a close brush with danger.
While distributing relief materials and surveying the damage in Seraj constituency, a sudden landslide occurred right in front of his convoy near Shankar Dehra.

Large chunks of the hillside collapsed onto the road, causing panic among those present. Jairam Thakur and his team members were forced to run to safety as rocks tumbled down. A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media, showing the tense moments as people scrambled away from the falling debris.
The incident took place while Thakur was returning from Karsog to Thunag. Fortunately, no injuries were reported
Himachal Pradesh continues to reel under the impact of relentless rainfall, with Mandi district emerging as one of the worst affected among the state’s 68 Assembly constituencies.The rains have caused widespread damage to infrastructure and disrupted normal life.
Taking stock of the situation, State Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh has announced special assistance packages for the rain-affected constituencies, assuring rapid rehabilitation and infrastructure repair.
