Combating drugs through education and sensitivity is possible - SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu

Ferozepur, July 17, 2025: On the second and last day of the two-day seminar underway at DIET - District Institute of Education and Training, Ferozepur under the "War Against Drugs" campaign, a special session was organized under the guidance of Bhupinder Singh, SSP Ferozepur, District Education Officer (Secondary) Mrs. Munila Arora, Deputy DEO Dr. Satinder Singh, DIET Principal Seema Panchi, District Nodal Ashwinder Brar District Nodal Officer and District Resource Person Dinesh Chauhan.
Addressing the teachers, SSP said that drugs not only have legal seriousness, but it has become a social and family disease. He told the teachers that you are the first unit that can identify the direction of any student. HE appealed to increase awareness at the school level through anti-drug slogans, nukkad natak and other activities.
District Education Officer Munila Arora, while discussing the mental state of the students, social pressures and trends, said that "Education is not limited to the classroom only, it is a struggle - for morality and the creation of the future." She encouraged the teachers to create a personal dialogue with the students in the school, so that they can also share their thoughts.
Deputy DEO Dr. Satinder Singh also said that "Sometimes the pen of a teacher can do miracles that even the law cannot do." She told the teachers that with the combination of education and sensitivity, we can divert the youth from drugs and make them inclined towards science, sports, art and patriotism.
Addressing the session, DIET Principal Seema Panchi Madam said that "This training is not just information, but a ticket to responsibility." She appreciated the role of resource persons and teacher trainees and said that unless we think from the heart, no campaign can be successful.
During the seminar, resource persons provided detailed training on the plans and strategies to take the teachers towards a drug-free society through videos, presentations and group activities.
The resource persons included Gurpreet Singh BRC Satya Wala, Gurdev Singh BRC Satya Wala, Parveen Kumar BRC Mamdot, Rajiv Sharma BRC Ghall Khurd, Harpreet Bhullar BRC, Amit Narang BRC, Anmol Sharma BRC, Kamal Wadhwa BRC, Harpreet Achint BRC, Sandeep Kumar.
Apart from this, Sukhchain Singh, Gaurav Munjal, Gurmej Singh (Punjab Police) and Sub Inspector Lakhvir Singh were also present.
At the end of the session, all the teachers took a pledge to spread awareness against drugs and help the students.
