Former Chandigarh MP Kirron Kher served Rs 13 lakh notice; Here's Why

Chandigarh, July 23, 2025: The Chandigarh Administration has issued a notice of approximately ₹13 lakh to former BJP Member of Parliament Kirron Kher for non-payment of rent for a government-allocated house.
The notice, dated June 24, was sent by the Assistant Rent Controller.According to official sources, Kirron Kher was allotted a government residence in Sector 7.
The outstanding license fee for the property has accumulated to ₹12,76,418. In the event of non-payment, an annual interest of 12% will be levied on the due amount.
The notice mandates that payment must be made via demand draft or bank transfer. Prior to payment, the concerned cashier must be contacted to obtain the payment details.
Despite Kher’s former status as an MP, officials clarified that the matter will be dealt with strictly as per rules. The administration has warned that if the dues are not cleared promptly, recovery proceedings with applicable interest may be initiated.
