Qadian, August 5, 2025: A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) from Chandigarh conducted a raid early this morning at a residence in Nangal Bagbana, a village near Qadian in Punjab
. The house belongs to Maninder Singh, and the raid is reportedly linked to ongoing investigations involving Jaswinder Singh alias Jassi, a fugitive in multiple drug-related cases.
According to sources, Jaswinder Singh had earlier fled to Canada to evade arrest and was subsequently declared an absconder. However, he was deported back from Canada last month and arrested upon arrival in India. Recently, he was granted bail by the court.
Today, just days after his release, the NIA team conducted a fresh raid at his residence as part of their continued probe. The team arrived at the location around 5 a.m., accompanied by local police for security.
Darshan Singh, the Sarpanch of Nangal Bagbana, confirmed the early morning presence of NIA and police teams in the village. The agency is reportedly examining possible links, digital records, and other evidence tied to the drug smuggling network and its international connections.
