NDDB marks 60 Years of White Revolution, Felicitates Ferozepur Milk Union leaders
Ferozepur, September 28, 2025: The National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), established in 1965 to lay the foundation of India’s “White Revolution,” celebrated its Diamond Jubilee with a Grand National event in New Delhi.
Over the past six decades, NDDB has played a transformative role in organizing farmers, boosting milk production, delivering pure and nutritious milk to consumers, and making India self-reliant in dairy production. Parliament recognized its national importance by granting it the status of an institution of national significance in 1987.
The Diamond Jubilee celebration brought together dairy cooperatives, managers, and directors from across the country. Punjab’s Verka (Milkfed) team participated as special invitees, led by Milkfed Punjab Chairman Narinder Singh Shergill. Representing the Ferozepur Milk Union were Director and Chairman Gurbhej Singh Tibbi and General Manager Sugyan Prasad Singh.
NDDB Chairman Dr. Minesh Shah honoured Gurbhej Singh Tibbi and Singh with a special award for their outstanding contribution and leadership in the development of the Ferozepur Milk Union.
Commending the Verka team, Shergill highlighted Punjab’s pioneering role in advancing the White Revolution. “By organizing farmers, encouraging milk production, and ensuring stable incomes, Verka has created a new history for rural Punjab,” he said, noting that Punjab’s dairy cooperatives have given fresh direction to the agricultural sector.
The event recognized the efforts of northern India’s dairy cooperatives, urging them to strengthen farmers’ economic resilience while ensuring quality and nutritious milk products for consumers. Delegates from various Verka milk unions across Punjab underscored their alignment with NDDB’s mission and vision.
The Diamond Jubilee celebration not only revisited past achievements but also set new directions for the future. NDDB called on all dairy institutions to adopt innovative technology, enhance milk production, and secure stable income for future generations of farmers—reaffirming the dairy sector’s vital role in farmers’ welfare, consumer safety, and the nation’s nutritional needs.
