Minister Khudian distributes over ₹1.21 Crore compensation to 348 flood-hit farmers in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, October 15, 2025: Punjab Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Food Processing Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian distributed compensation approval letters worth over ₹1.21 crore to flood-affected 348 farmers in Ferozepur district on Wednesday.
At a special function in village Nihala Lavera, 254 farmers received compensation worth ₹99.20 lakh, while 37 farmers from village Kamalwala were given approval letters for ₹6.60 lakh. Similarly, during another event at village Fatehwala in sub-division Zira, 57 farmers were provided compensation exceeding ₹16 lakh for losses to crops, houses, and livestock.
Speaking on the occasion, Khudian said the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, stands firmly with the farming community in this difficult time. He assured that the compensation amounts would be directly transferred to farmers’ bank accounts at the earliest.
Emphasising that this support was not merely financial relief but a commitment to stand with every affected family, Khudian added that no farmer or household would be left unattended. He also acknowledged the role of district administration, religious bodies, NGOs, and volunteers who worked tirelessly during rescue and rehabilitation efforts.
The events were attended by Deputy Commissioner Deepsikha Sharma, SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, SDMs, local representatives, and a large gathering of farmers and villagers.
