Gandhinagar, October 16, 2025:
In a major political development in Gujarat on Thursday, a political storm erupted when all 16 ministers of the Bhupendra Patel-led cabinet resigned from their posts, leaving only the Chief Minister in office. The mass resignation came just a day before the scheduled cabinet expansion on Friday, triggering widespread speculation about new political equations taking shape in the state.
The swearing-in ceremony of the new cabinet will be held on Friday at 11:30 a.m. in Gandhinagar.
Why did the ministers resign?
According to political observers, this major reshuffle is part of the BJP’s well-planned strategy, often referred to as the “Gujarat Formula.” The objective behind this move is to neutralize the growing anti-incumbency sentiment against the government and to bring in fresh faces to strengthen the party’s image.

The 2021 Formula:

New Faces Expected:
Reports suggest that this time too, the BJP may induct around 10 new faces into the cabinet while replacing nearly half of the existing ministers.
What will the new cabinet look like?
As per sources, the new cabinet is likely to include 20 to 23 members, compared to the 17-member cabinet under Bhupendra Patel.

Some old faces to stay: Around five ministers from the previous cabinet may retain their positions.
-
Influx of new leaders: The new cabinet is expected to feature 16 new ministers, including two women leaders.
