Tarn Taran (Punjab), October 25, 2025: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu has placed development and youth empowerment at the centre of his campaign for the upcoming Tarn Taran bypoll, lauding the Bhagwant Mann-led government for its ambitious Rural Resurgence Project that promises to transform the face of Punjab’s villages.
Speaking at a gathering in Tarn Taran, Sandhu praised the ₹1,194 crore initiative, under which 3,100 model playgrounds are being developed across the state to promote sports, youth engagement, and drug prevention.
“This isn’t just about building playgrounds — it’s about shaping a healthy, confident, and progressive generation,” said Sandhu. “We are giving our children a safe space to dream and our youth a positive direction to stay away from drugs.”
As part of the project, 138 playgrounds will be built in Tarn Taran district, including 20 in the Tarn Taran Assembly Constituency itself. These model grounds will feature inclusive play areas for children, toilets for women, and floodlit facilities for evening sports such as football and volleyball.
Calling the initiative a “turning point for rural Punjab,” Sandhu said the Mann Government’s focus on modern infrastructure in villages reflects its commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.
“These playgrounds will become hubs of community pride and youth energy,” Sandhu remarked. “Under CM Bhagwant Mann’s ‘Nashe De Virudh’ campaign, sports and youth engagement are our strongest tools to build a drug-free Punjab.”
Urging voters to support the Aam Aadmi Party in the November 11 bypoll, Harmeet Singh Sandhu appealed to the people of Tarn Taran to “vote for progress, honesty, and a brighter future.”
“Every vote for AAP is a vote for clean governance, better opportunities for youth, and a vibrant Punjab,” he said.
