Mohali (Punjab), October 25, 2025: Acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, today lauded Sikh student Manandeep Singh of Sector 71, Mohali, for authoring a remarkable book on the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) while still in Class 10. During his visit to Manandeep’s residence, Jathedar Gargaj praised the young writer’s intellect and dedication, extending blessings for his academic success and a life rooted in Gursikhi values.
Manandeep Singh, son of Dr. Sarabdeep Singh, Assistant Director in the Animal Husbandry Department, Punjab, developed a keen interest in space science under the mentorship of his teacher and SDRO Director, Sarvesh Bhardwaj.
His book, India’s Space Journey: A Student’s Insight into ISRO’s Milestones and Future, traces ISRO’s evolution from the vision of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai to India’s modern triumphs like Chandrayaan-3 and the Aditya-L1 mission. Written in a storytelling format, the book aims to inspire young minds to pursue careers in science and space exploration.
The book narrates India’s pioneering progress—from the launch of its first satellite, Aryabhata, to globally recognized missions such as the Mars Orbiter Mission and Chandrayaan series. It highlights ISRO’s technological innovations, including PSLV, GSLV, and LVM-3 rockets, and outlines future projects like Shukrayaan, India’s mission to Venus. The narrative celebrates the indomitable spirit of Indian scientists and engineers who have propelled the nation into the league of global space leaders.
Recognizing his brilliance, Manandeep was earlier felicitated by Sarvesh Bhardwaj at SDRO headquarters in Bengaluru and commended by ISRO scientists Dr. Mohenderpal Singh and Gurpreet Singh. He also received appreciation from Dr. Jatinder Singh of the National Aeronautics Laboratory (NAL), Bengaluru.
In August 2025, the Punjab Government honored Manandeep Singh during Independence Day celebrations in Mohali. The award was presented by Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian in the presence of the district administration. Earlier, ISRO Chairman S. Somanath and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru had also felicitated him for his contribution to promoting space awareness among school students.
