“Time to make Punjab fear-free and AAP-free”, says Pargat Singh after spate of daylight crimes

Jalandhar (Punjab), October 30, 2025: Expressing deep concern over the rising incidents of robberies, extortion, and shootings across Punjab, Padma Shri Pargat Singh, MLA and Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann of failing to maintain law and order in the state.
Pargat Singh said that Punjab today faces a “complete collapse of governance,” where citizens and businesses alike live in fear.
“The AAP government, the Chief Minister, and Punjab Police have failed miserably to maintain law and order — both citizens and businesses no longer feel safe,” he stated.
Highlighting a surge in violent crimes, Singh said that robberies and shootings in broad daylight have become routine, with gangsters openly extorting money from traders, doctors, and shopkeepers. He pointed to recent incidents across Amritsar, Moga, Abohar, Mansa, Phagwara, and Batala, calling them “a warning bell for Punjab’s future.”
The former Education Minister alleged that the AAP government is prioritizing publicity over governance. “Instead of restoring order, the Chief Minister and his ministers are busy inaugurating transformers and toilets. Punjab is being governed through optics, not through action,” he remarked.
Pargat Singh emphasized that criminals have lost fear of the law, while honest citizens feel abandoned. He said that if the Chief Minister had the will, peace could be restored swiftly — but the government suffers from “indecision, complacency, and lack of resolve.”
Calling for immediate action, he said, “It’s time to reclaim Punjab — to make it fearless, just, and secure once again. The Congress Party stands ready to restore law and order and rebuild public faith in governance.”
