Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport marks Aviation Safety Awareness Week 2025

Amritsar (Punjab), November 28, 2025 — Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport successfully concluded Aviation Safety Awareness Week (ASAW) 2025, reaffirming its strong commitment to fostering a robust safety culture and ensuring seamless cooperation among all aviation stakeholders.
The week-long programme, held from November 24 to 28, was organised under the guidance of the Airport Director and featured a series of activities focused on safety awareness, hazard reporting, emergency preparedness and community engagement.


November 24 — Opening Ceremony & Safety Awareness Session
The observance began with an inauguration ceremony led by the Airport Director, followed by a meeting with Heads of Departments to outline the safety initiatives for the week. A half-day session covered the Voluntary Reporting System, Foreign Object Debris (FOD) management and wildlife hazard mitigation, encouraging timely and responsible reporting of airside hazards.
November 25 — Runway FOD Walk, ATC Safety Session & Community Outreach
A Runway FOD Walk was conducted with participation from the Airport Director, Safety Manager, senior HODs and airline representatives to highlight the importance of runway cleanliness.
Air Traffic Control Officers attended a safety session on manual updates, operational best practices and enhanced situational awareness.
The Operations team also visited Raja Sansi village to discourage waste dumping and unsafe disposal of food materials near the airport boundary—an effort aimed at reducing bird activity.

November 26 — Low Visibility Procedures Training & Electrical Maintenance
Airside drivers underwent training on Low Visibility Procedures (LVP), focusing on safe manoeuvring during CAT-II and CAT-III conditions.
Electrical teams conducted maintenance and inspections of AGL, ALS, DG systems and lightning protection devices.
November 27 — Fire Drills & Drawing Competition
Airport Fire Services carried out full-scale fire and emergency response drills using Crash Fire Tenders, ambulances and fire crews to demonstrate readiness for crisis situations.
A drawing competition was held at the AAI Colony, encouraging children to express their understanding of aviation safety through art.
November 28 — Closing Ceremony
The concluding session highlighted the central message of the week: Safety is achieved through continuous practice and strict compliance with procedures.
Airport management, airlines, ATC, emergency services, AAI personnel and community members collectively participated in the observance, reinforcing their commitment to a safe operational environment.
