Railway holds special ‘Samvad’ program to strengthen waste management in trains
Ferozepur, December 3, 2025: To enhance passenger amenities, Indian Railways regularly issues guidelines on cleanliness, safety, and passenger services across trains and stations. As part of the Railway Board’s special directives on Waste Management in trains, each railway division has been instructed to organise a dedicated “Samvad” programme to raise awareness about the proper collection and disposal of waste generated by pantry cars.
In compliance with these guidelines, the Ferozepur Division, under the guidance of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr. DCM) Parmdeep Singh Saini, organised a special “Samvad” programme through the Commercial Department.
During the session, pantry car staff were briefed on maintaining train cleanliness, collecting waste in sealed bags, and offloading them only at designated stations. Officials emphasised that non-compliance with these instructions will lead to strict action against the concerned pantry car staff.
As part of the campaign, on December 3, the Commercial Department conducted a special “Samvad” with the pantry car staff of Train No. 18238 Amritsar–Bilaspur Express. Staff were trained on waste collection, safe handling, and disposal procedures to ensure high hygiene standards. Their ID cards and medical certificates were also inspected to ensure compliance with railway norms.
Sr. DCM Parmdeep Singh Saini stated that the “Samvad” initiative will play a vital role in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of cleanliness systems in trains.
