Armed Forces Flag Day observed, DC appeals for generous contributions
Ferozepur, December 4, 2025: Armed Forces Flag Day was observed in Ferozepur district with a simple ceremony, during which the Superintendent of District Defence Services, along with staff members, pinned the Armed Forces Flag on Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the significance of the day, stating that Armed Forces Flag Day reminds every citizen of the supreme sacrifices made by the brave soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation. She said that the armed forces have consistently defended the country against wars imposed by enemies, terrorism, and various security threats, demonstrating unmatched courage and dedication.

Deputy Commissioner noted that many soldiers have been martyred, while many others have been rendered permanently disabled. Taking care of such families, she said, is the shared responsibility of both the government and society. Flag Day provides a golden opportunity for every citizen to express respect and empathy towards the brave soldiers and their families.
She informed that the amount collected through voluntary contributions on this day is deposited in the state’s Armed Forces Flag Day Fund, which is utilized for welfare schemes benefiting the families of martyrs, disabled soldiers, and other needy ex-servicemen.
DC also appealed to the residents of Ferozepur district—including private schools, colleges, hospitals, government departments, and social organizations—to donate generously, noting that the contribution is exempt from income tax.
She added, “Let us salute the brave martyrs who, without caring for their own lives, made unparalleled sacrifices in the service of the nation. It is because of their supreme sacrifice that we enjoy the freedom we have today. Supporting their families is our social duty. Martyrs remain immortal, and our contributions help keep their legacy alive.”
